Food prices are going to go up this summer and fall 2025 due to farmers losing mostly immigrant help to pick produce, milk cows, sort eggs at cheap wages. Farmers reserve water for irrigation was greatly reduced by the failed attempts to use water in north California to put out south California fires. This in addition to TARIFFS have led Mexico not to plant crops since they will not make money. So we will not have their crops to fall back onto. Our current administration is also set to reduce money to SNAP, Meals of Wheels, school lunches and other programs that feed our children and poor (see government URL on this below).
What can we do to proactively prevent hunger? We can plant community gardens. Schools could use science class to plant and use produce to supplement school programs. Churches, business and counties with unused land could fill out an annual form donating ground to community gardens. Public ground between streets and sidewalks could be designated as community gardens. If people in the house in front of these areas want to use them as gardens we could have states make that legal.
Would need a few things to make this happen.
1. Pro bono lawyer draw up annual form that people could fill out that would protect them against lawsuits where a rabbit pooped on a vegetable and someone got sick or slip/fall lawsuits. The form would state a person and back up who are in charge of dividing the land up for other people without money or favors trading hands to do so.
2. Local townships keep a copy of annual forms on record.
3. Would be good if legislation could be passed to protect property owners that are donating the land... like "Good Samaritan Laws" protect someone who does CPR for being sued for braking ribs. Only here people could not sue because and animal pooped on their veggies or they tripped on the property, etc.
Do you have ideas on how we can implement this idea and have local leaders getting the ball rolling on this?

All democrats voted to protect food programs while all republicans voted to have them on the chopping block. You can read through the amendments but in regards to feeding the poor, Medicaid, law enforcement, etc all democrats wanted these programs protected and all republicans voted to have them on the chopping block.
